Serving Plain & The Greater Lake Wenatchee Area
Welcome to Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue
Whether you have been here for generations, a few years, or are visiting for the weekend, our volunteers consider it an honor to serve you and your family.
LWFR is a full-service Fire, Rescue, and EMS department. Our membership is made of your dedicated neighbors who meet several times a month to train, learn, and prepare for any emergency. Unlike many fully-funded fire departments, our volunteer service requires our firefighters to respond from home or work. Their service is indicative of the unique community we enjoy. Where, regardless of our individualities, we all come together in the protection of our common home and each other.
Our home here is also unique in its Cascade mountain environment. It is a recreation paradise; it also can hold inherent hazards. Summers can reach 100 degrees and are often highly vulnerable to fire. Winters can drop well below zero, and the unprepared can risk injury or death from exposure.
Our volunteers are always ready to respond, though the best way to help them is for you to live and act in a way that keeps you prepared. If traveling in the backcountry, let someone know your plans. Always carry essentials in your backpack and in your car. Prepare your property against wildfire and give it defensible space so it can survive fires big and small.
Lastly, I can never say thank you enough to our Auxiliary and community members that support us in good times and when the going gets challenging. Their vocal and enthusiastic support keeps spirits high and reminds us why we get up for each and every call.
Sincerely,
Fire Chief David Walker
