Very High Fire Danger

Notice: Very High Fire Danger designation and local amendments to Chelan County resolution 2020-77. Per Chelan County resolution 2020-77 on July 27th 2020. A fire danger area designation of Very High Fire Danger and the following activity restrictions are in effect for all unincorporated areas of Chelan County. (2) Activity restrictions (i) No Fireworks. Use, display, and discharge of all fireworks are prohibited. (ii) No outdoor fires and or open flame devices, except as allowed by written permit or approval from the appropriate fire protection agency. Permits are not required for use of the following: (1) commercially made listed/labeled barbeque devices located and used at a residence; and (2) stoves or fireplaces fires completely contained within a residence. (iii) Use of charcoal briquettes is prohibited, except for commercially made listed/labeled barbeque devices located and used at a residence. 7.52.080 Violation—Penalty. (1) Anyone violating the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars and/or ninety days in jail. (2) In addition to the criminal penalties which may be imposed pursuant to this chapter, the expenses of fighting any fires as a result of violations of this chapter are a charge against the person whose violation of this chapter caused the fire. Consistent with Resolution 2020-77 and Chelan County Code Chapter 7.52 the following activities are approved within the boundaries of Chelan County Fire District #9 (Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue) (1) Portable and fixed propane fireplace/rings are allowed. These open flame devices must be:

  1. (i) UL approved,

  2. (ii) Non-ember producing.

  3. (iii) Placed on a noncombustible surface.

  4. (iv) Located 25 ft from combustible construction and brush.

(2) Attended campfires are permitted in designated campgrounds with 24 hour attendants (i) Lake Wenatchee State Park No campfires shall be allowed during forecasted red flag and wind events.
